White Space

Areas of background color on a Web page (can be white or any color) free of images or text (also called "negative space").

Careful use of extended white space can add an open or airy feeling to a page and reduce a cluttered or overly dense appearance.

Generally, good web design dictates that the more photos on a page the more white space is needed around them. Pages that feature predominantly text need less white space to appear balanced.
