SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)
The protocol used for sending e-mail over the Web.
Your e-mail program (such as Outlook) uses SMTP to send a message to the mail server, and the mail server uses SMTP to relay the message to the receiving mail server, which delivers the mail to the receiving e-mail program.
