MIME
A standard for attaching binary files to Internet mail messages.
An e-mail program is MIME-compliant if it can send and receive files using MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions).
Binary files sent using MIME are converted (encoded) into text for mailing and then decoded by the receiving mailer.
