Hits
The number of files that are downloaded from a Web server over a given period of time.
The number of hits for a given Web page is much greater than the number of actual visitors because most Web pages contain more than one file.
Since each HTML page, graphic, audio, and video element is a separate file, one Web page can have many files each counting as a hit. Sometimes mistaken used to mean the number of times a Web page is accessed, rather than the number of files accessed on that page.
A hits log (access log) is a listing of the traffic coming to your Web site which also indicates the keywords used to search for your site.
