Bitmap Graphic
A graphic composed of a grid of pixels laid out on the screen and then filled (mapped) with one to three colors per pixel.
Formats include JPEG, GIF, and PNG. Bit-maps (also called “raster graphics”) have fixed resolution and they lose quality when re-sized or stretched. Contrast with vector graphics, which is used primarily in Flash animation.
